any chance you'd be interested in upgrading to gcc-3.2.2 and retrying this? i know there were a few ICE (internal compiler error) bug fixes in this release.
I am willing to upgrade gcc and try again. I got an ICE when trying to compile gcc-3.2.2 (bug 15586).
Comment #2 looks like it could be memory corruption or lack there of. How much memory+swap ?
I have 256MB of RAM and 2.5GB of swap (I know, that's a lot but I need it for remastering knoppix CDs). Any way I kicked my buss speed to 100 and my 1800XP went to 1250 and built it. Im useing "O2". Went back to 1800 with no probs I'm even going to try qt which never built before. hiel
Update: I have been messing with my make optimizations, trying -O1, -O2, -O3 etc. I've tried '-ccache' '-j1' to no avail. I always get the same segfault error, though not always in the same place. It may compile for 5 minutes or half an hour, but it always bombs out with a segfault. P.S. I get the same thing when trying to emerge gnome; specifically when it compiles pango, it will bomb out with a segfault. I have emerged several other packages successfully which leads me to believe that either a) I am doing something wrong or have something not configured correctly for emerging these two packages, or b) there is an error or problem with the packages I am trying to merge. I have successfully emerged lynx, enlightenment, xfce, and pine.
I've also noticed on all the outputs here (and mine), that the last message that it spits out is 'Function src_compile, Line 106, Exitcode 2'. Is this a problem with the ebuild code? And not a problem with qt?
Dunno. Try to run memtest86 with all tests + addresses selected ? Its not getting too hot ? Overclocked ?
