Steps to reproduce: 1. emerge openldap nss_ldap pam_ldap 2. Configure them properly so that "getent passwd" shows both local users and ldap users 3. Make sure both local users and remote users can auth and logon to the system properly. 4. getent passwd | grep portage, make sure the portage user exists 5. getent group | grep portage, make sure the portage group exists. 6. emerge any ebuild, and it'll fail when it's trying to download the source files. 7. Revert to nss_ldap-239-r1 solves the above problem. Please don't hesitate to email me should you require more information.
