Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.download [warning - 144MB file] http://progressive.stream.aol.com/wb/gl/wbonline/progressive/thematrix/us/med/animatrixlgfinal_dl.mov 2.mplayer animatrixlgfinal_dl.mov 3. Actual Results: get strange output with no video and/or crash. Expected Results: play the file :)

oooooooooooohhh
Work great for me !!!! thanks man
Well this is probably useless since rc4 was just released.
Damn thing is too big for me. Can you please test with rc4, and close if its working ? Thanks.
The stock rc4 will not play it, however that patch seems to work just fine against the rc4 sources without modification. I just tried rc4 with that patch applied and it works with that quicktime file now (though there is an audio sync problem - I suspect that patch is just a hack and not a complete fix). There is a forum thread on it here: http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=34001
Mailed to mplayer mailing list. Hopefully the guys will know the correct fix, as I don't think it should just go in as is.

Hack was actually by Arpi himself, but up to date he have not come up with a better or 'official' fix. Will wait until it is less hackish or in official before I fix ours in portage.
Update....the second animatrix video is out, but mplayer with this patch plays it with no sound, because it uses aac audio. Installing faac then recompileing mplayer doesn't detect faad, and from the mailing list even if it did detect faad it seems it doesn't work anyway. So this one doesn't play right either.
mplayer-0.90_rc5 doesn't need this patch to play either of the animatrix movies that are out now. using the faad2 ebuild from bug 17342 the second video plays with sound.
Great.
