Description Christian Heim (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-10-08 00:03:03 UTC
As the summary tells, could you guys please look into 2.6.17.13 and see if it works for your arch and mark it stable afterwards ?
Comment 1 Matthias Langer 2006-10-08 04:26:41 UTC
seems to work fairly well here (x86):

"
$ uname -psr
Linux 2.6.17.13 Celeron (Coppermine)
$ uptime
 13:23:41 up 13 days, 11:39,  1 user,  load average: 0.00, 0.00, 0.00
"
Comment 2 Markus Meier gentoo-dev 2006-10-08 04:36:13 UTC
works fine here on x86.
(installed it about 2 weeks ago)

We have this issue with 2.6.18, http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=148710.
Comment 9 Christian Heim (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-10-14 07:33:27 UTC
According to Mike (KingTaco) vanilla-sources isn't supported on amd64, thus removing them.
Comment 10 Joe Jezak (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-11-21 11:38:57 UTC
Marked ppc stable.
Comment 11 Daniel Drake (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-12-17 11:24:50 UTC
HPPA doesnt even have vanilla-sources keyworded

Sure we do.
Comment 13 Jeroen Roovers (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-12-17 20:23:22 UTC
vanilla-sources installs properly but is not used for building kernels for PARISC machines. It just doesn't work without specific patches that are not in Linus' kernel. Because the previously stable 2.6.16.16 does not build a kernel at all, I have reverted that to ~hppa. I have also marked >2.6.17.14 ~hppa and I hope this keyword will be propagated to all future vanilla-sources ebuilds. (If an HPPA user then finds that a certain version will build a proper kernel image, then theoretically we could always stabilise that version).

Thanks for reminding me of the problem, dsd, and sorry for the delay, everyone.
