dropping back to baselayout-1.2.4-r7 corrects the problem
what version of udev ? post the boot output so we can see what device stuff gets setup
Created attachment 97251 [details] Boot log
sys-fs/devfsd-1.3.25-r9 udev is not installed there is also a syslog and a messages log but no boot log Let me know if you need something else.
sorry, not dmesg output, but the actual stuff you see from the Gentoo init boot it should say something along the lines of: * Mounting devfs at /dev ... [ ok ] * Starting devfsd ... [ ok ]
sorry, I ran a grep and didn't find anything like that. Do you have a file name to upload or can you tell me how to capture the data you're looking for? My systems all boot from grub, is there something there that would enable me to capture the output?
no, you will have to hand type it
ha, ha close it, it won't happen
i just worked with someone else to perhaps track this down
Created attachment 97372 [details, diff] baselayout-devfs.patch try this
merged a similar (correct) fix into svn after testing from psm
