Description Ygor Lemos 2006-09-04 16:43:27 UTC
When tryed to emerge:

# emerge gaim-rhythmbox

It returns the following error:

checking for rhythmbox >= 0.6... Package rhythmbox was not found in the pkg-config search path. Perhaps you should add the directory containing `rhythmbox.pc' to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable No package 'rhythmbox' found
configure: error: Library requirements (rhythmbox >= 0.6) not met; consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if your libraries are in a nonstandard prefix so pkg-config can find them.

The sources must be replaced by the new ones from http://gaim-rhythmbox.sourceforge.net/ which currently solves the problem, please assign for someone to make a new ebuild for this and mask the troubly one.
Comment 3 Jon Oberheide 2006-09-24 22:06:15 UTC
The problem is that Rhythmbox maintainers removed their .pc file in the 0.9 series (0.9.4 I think?). The 1.x series of Gaim-Rhythmbox is meant to be used with the 1.x series of Gaim and the 0.8 series of Rhythmbox. The 2.x series of Gaim-Rhythmbox is meant to be used with the 2.x series of Gaim and the 0.9 series of Rhythmbox. Confusing, I know, but even more confusing if I maintained versions for each combination of series.

So if you're using Gaim 2.x and Rhythmbox 0.9.x, make sure to get Gaim-Rhythmbox-beta2 or higher which does not contain the .pc check.
Comment 4 Kathryn Kulick (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-12-24 13:05:33 UTC
Gaim-rhythmbox has been updated for current versions. Closing this bug.
Comment 5 Carlos Eduardo Santos 2007-05-21 03:10:26 UTC
Please, reopen the bug with the version 1.5.0.1

checking for rhythmbox... configure: error: Package requirements (rhythmbox >= 0.6) were not met.
Consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you
installed software in a non-standard prefix.

Alternatively you may set the rhythmbox_CFLAGS and rhythmbox_LIBS environment variables
to avoid the need to call pkg-config. See the pkg-config man page for
more details.

I'm using gaim 2 and gaim-rhythmbox 2 compiles as said Jon Oberheide. But the plugin is doing nothing with %rb in my MSN account, but that's another bug.
