Description Ryan Hill (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-07-22 12:52:52 UTC
current stable sci-libs/blas-atlas-3.6.0-r1 fails to build with GCC 4.1. if possible, please stabilize >=sci-libs/blas-atlas-3.7.11 or backport the eclass fix from ~arch so we can work on getting GCC 4.1 into stable.

thanks ;d
Comment 1 Ryan Hill (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-08-27 19:26:05 UTC
Any progress on this? We need this ASAP for bug #140707. If no response is made before Sept 1st we'll be taking it upon ourselves to CC archs and get this bug resolved.

thanks :)

I'm currently testing bug 141446 which needs this for gcc-4.1, so I went ahead and tested blas-atlas-3.7.11 on amd64...

emerges fine, following QA notices:

Hi Ryan,

blas-atlas-3.7.11 is ready to go stable from my point of view. As a matter
of fact, it should go stable soon since it has much better support for
modern CPUs that 3.6.0 does.

However, there are still a few open bugs for this package. Many of them are
due to the fact that blas-atlas is a very complex scientific-library that does
compile time profiling, timing, and assembly code generation. Hence builds
can even break if blas-atlas is being emerged on a system with a very unbalanced
load etc. The compile time assembly code generation also leads to the
executable stack in libatlas.so. I plan to track this down at some point.

Thanks,
Markus

CCing arches then.

ppc64 stable
Comment 6 Simon Stelling (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-09-02 15:44:33 UTC
Marked stable on amd64 assuming the concerns raised in comment 2 are going to be fixed later on.

2) passes collision test
3) passes test suite (no official, but something in between)
