Hardware: HP Omnibook 4150 which I have installed at least 2 different versions of Linux onto, in the past. Nothing modern though. PII 366 On bootup, I get the Kernel panic message. I have attempted giving the boot some parameters: 'gentoo noapic noscsi acpi=no', but I still get the halt. A couple times it didn't print out the '<0>Kernel panick: Aiee, killing interrupt handler!' message, and simply printed out the 'Code: ' line above it. The code line in the frozen screen I see right now is: 'Code: 39 7a 04 74 13 89 d3 8b 13 85 d2 75 f3 b9 01 00 00 00 5b 5e' if that means anything to you. heh Above all that is a large series of 8-digit hex number columns going off the screen.
1.4rc2 livecd isnt taking kernel parameters correctly. ie: apci=off, etc the newest experimental livecd had it disabled by default. but apic is still enabled. you may want to try it.
This problem appears to be resolved in the 2003-01-14 livecd for X86 on my laptop. Boot without parameters succeeds, stock. Thanks!
