However, I have autoconf-2.60 and latest autoconf-wrapper-3.2-r2.

Yes, this is how I fixed (there should be some better way, this one just 
works for 2.5 and 2.6 autoconf....). 
Patch to be applied inside the {S} (main) directory.

I think that is my patch is better (more universal).
