Description Sascha Spreitzer 2006-06-07 07:17:18 UTC
Support for crypted root, or lvm2 with crypted root, or mdraid witch crypted root would be a nice thing.

Got a patch?
Comment 2 Chris Gianelloni (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-06-09 07:54:43 UTC
Wait... isn't this the same as bug #122421?
Comment 3 Sascha Spreitzer 2006-06-10 04:17:32 UTC
I'm sorry I have no patch.

In my mind LUKS is a kernel patch? is'nt it?

What am I asking for is support for kernel implemented features.
Such as
- Crypto modules ( In kernel, many of them, but genkernel? )
- LVM2 ( in kernel, yes and in genkernel )
- mdraid ( in kernel, yes but genkernel? )

Do you see what i mean?
Initrd should finally ba capable of booting from "Crypto modules" encrypted devices. Nevertheless they are Physical or LVM2 or mdraid or any other thing.
Enhancing security for probably later mission critical solutions in bussinies, government and privacy.

This is the same as #122421. That is a LUKS support patch for *genkernel*, not for the kernel.
