How can I keyword gentoo-sources for ~x86? I'd like to test 2.6.16...

------- Comment #3 From Carlos Silva (RETIRED) 2006-03-22 03:44:41 0000 -------
edit the ebuild and on the line that starts with "KEYWORDS=" add "~x86" to it.
After that run "ebuild
/usr/portage/sys-kernel/gentoo-sources/gentoo-sources-2.6.16.ebuild digest" and
add sys-kernel/gentoo-sources to your /etc/portage/package.keywords.
After this, just emerge gentoo-sources.

------- Comment #4 From Chris Gianelloni (RETIRED) 2006-03-22 06:26:16 0000 -------
I've done x86.

------- Comment #5 From Luca Barbato 2006-03-22 06:38:27 0000 -------
Tested and marked ~ppc

------- Comment #6 From Markus Rothe 2006-03-22 12:27:34 0000 -------
added ~ppc64

------- Comment #7 From Gustavo Zacarias (RETIRED) 2006-03-28 06:42:01 0000 -------
~sparc no go.
It's missing the sparsemem patch from bug #127095 which fixes SMP
UltraSPARC-IIIi systems.
Also it has issues with Blade 1000/2000/280R/other UltraSPARC-III systems which
rely on the qla2xxx driver to boot from builtin disks.

------- Comment #8 From Matthew Schultz 2006-03-28 08:12:53 0000 -------
Looks like 2.6.16.1 just came out today: http://kernel.org/

------- Comment #9 From Daniel Drake 2006-03-28 08:40:16 0000 -------
Gustavo: I didn't forget about the sparsemem patch, just this bug was opened
before I was informed. Now that 2.6.16-r1 is out, can this be keyworded? Also,
can I have links to the bug reports or mailing list threads about those storage
regressions?

------- Comment #10 From Matthew Schultz 2006-04-08 19:56:58 0000 -------
2.6.16.2 just came out yesterday: http://kernel.org/

------- Comment #11 From Matthew Schultz 2006-04-11 14:02:01 0000 -------
Looks like they've gone to 2.6.16.4 now: http://kernel.org

------- Comment #12 From Daniel Drake 2006-04-19 12:20:15 0000 -------
arm: please mark 2.6.16-r3 testing
alpha: please mark 2.6.16-r3 testing

gustavoz: any progress on your sparc issue?

amd64 x86 ia64 ppc ppc64: please mark 2.6.16-r3 stable
you should also deal with bugs 128086 and 126992 at the same time

------- Comment #13 From Gustavo Zacarias (RETIRED) 2006-04-19 12:36:27 0000 -------
dsd: the qla22xx driver was heavily touched from 2.6.15.x->2.6.16.x, debugging
that would be a real pain (and i lack the affected hardware to do it myself).
theory says the alternate qlogic fc driver should work, but it's
deprecated/old, thus probably going away soon.

------- Comment #14 From Markus Rothe 2006-04-22 02:36:56 0000 -------
2.6.16-r3 stable on ppc64

------- Comment #15 From Matthias Langer 2006-04-22 16:06:26 0000 -------
i'm now using gentoo-sources-2.6.16-r3 for about 4 hours on x86. My system
seems to run smoothly as usual with nvidia-kernel-1.0.8756,
sys-apps/rlocate-0.5.0-r1 (yes, i know that both packages are in ~x86) and
udev-087. The only thing to notice is, that i saw this message while merging
the package:

* Applying 4405_alpha-sysctl-uac.patch (-p0+) ...
                                                                     [ ok ]awk:

------- Comment #18 From Gustavo Zacarias (RETIRED) 2006-04-28 14:34:40 0000 -------
2.6.16-r4 went to ~sparc land - seems some people failed to test it in a proper
fashion.
Basically for FCAL to work on SPARC it needs
CONFIG_SCSI_QLA2XXX_EMBEDDED_FIRMWARE=y and CONFIG_SCSI_QLA22XX=y (joys of
getting my own FCAL machine).

------- Comment #24 From Paolo Pedroni 2006-05-09 05:30:06 0000 -------
Any reasons why gentoo-sources-2.6.16 is not stable on AMD64 yet?

------- Comment #25 From Daniel Drake 2006-05-09 06:33:41 0000 -------
Because of some confusion between the amd64 team and myself. It will be done
very soon.

------- Comment #26 From Chris Gianelloni (RETIRED) 2006-05-09 14:15:50 0000 -------
amd64 stable

I also did 2.6.16-r7 on x86.

------- Comment #27 From Daniel Drake 2006-07-02 01:53:27 0000 -------
2.6.17 in the tree, I'll let the remaining people keyword it in their own time.
