Forgot to CC archs. gentoo-sources-2.6.16 is in the tree. Please test it and keyword as testing on your architecture.
(In reply to comment #1) > Forgot to CC archs. > > gentoo-sources-2.6.16 is in the tree. Please test it and keyword as testing on > your architecture. > How can I keyword gentoo-sources for ~x86? I'd like to test 2.6.16...
edit the ebuild and on the line that starts with "KEYWORDS=" add "~x86" to it. After that run "ebuild /usr/portage/sys-kernel/gentoo-sources/gentoo-sources-2.6.16.ebuild digest" and add sys-kernel/gentoo-sources to your /etc/portage/package.keywords. After this, just emerge gentoo-sources.
I've done x86.
Tested and marked ~ppc
added ~ppc64
~sparc no go. It's missing the sparsemem patch from bug #127095 which fixes SMP UltraSPARC-IIIi systems. Also it has issues with Blade 1000/2000/280R/other UltraSPARC-III systems which rely on the qla2xxx driver to boot from builtin disks.
Looks like 2.6.16.1 just came out today: http://kernel.org/
Gustavo: I didn't forget about the sparsemem patch, just this bug was opened before I was informed. Now that 2.6.16-r1 is out, can this be keyworded? Also, can I have links to the bug reports or mailing list threads about those storage regressions?
2.6.16.2 just came out yesterday: http://kernel.org/
Looks like they've gone to 2.6.16.4 now: http://kernel.org
arm: please mark 2.6.16-r3 testing alpha: please mark 2.6.16-r3 testing gustavoz: any progress on your sparc issue? amd64 x86 ia64 ppc ppc64: please mark 2.6.16-r3 stable you should also deal with bugs 128086 and 126992 at the same time
dsd: the qla22xx driver was heavily touched from 2.6.15.x->2.6.16.x, debugging that would be a real pain (and i lack the affected hardware to do it myself). theory says the alternate qlogic fc driver should work, but it's deprecated/old, thus probably going away soon.
2.6.16-r3 stable on ppc64
i'm now using gentoo-sources-2.6.16-r3 for about 4 hours on x86. My system seems to run smoothly as usual with nvidia-kernel-1.0.8756, sys-apps/rlocate-0.5.0-r1 (yes, i know that both packages are in ~x86) and udev-087. The only thing to notice is, that i saw this message while merging the package: * Applying 4405_alpha-sysctl-uac.patch (-p0+) ... x86 stable
IA64 done (2.6.16-r3).
2.6.16-r4 went to ~sparc land - seems some people failed to test it in a proper fashion. Basically for FCAL to work on SPARC it needs CONFIG_SCSI_QLA2XXX_EMBEDDED_FIRMWARE=y and CONFIG_SCSI_QLA22XX=y (joys of getting my own FCAL machine).
Marked ppc stable.
alpha, arm: ping! please mark 2.6.16-r5 as testing amd64 x86 ia64 ppc ppc64: please mark 2.6.16-r5 stable, it includes some important fixes
Marked ppc stable again.

Any reasons why gentoo-sources-2.6.16 is not stable on AMD64 yet?
Because of some confusion between the amd64 team and myself. It will be done very soon.
amd64 stable I also did 2.6.16-r7 on x86.
2.6.17 in the tree, I'll let the remaining people keyword it in their own time.
