The portage tarballs at http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/distributions/gentoo/snapshots/ have not been updated for a couple of weeks now. This means that people who are stranded behind firewalls that block rsync traffic cannot get up to date ebuilds. If the reason for this is bandwidth related, (downloading the whole portage tree every time is somewhat silly...) How about offering daily diffs of the tree? This will be much smaller, and will perhaps be even less load than using rsync.
