Emerge problem. Try to emerge poppler but poppler complains about that xpdf-3.01-r4 is blocking it. The version of xpdf that is installed on this system is 3.01-r3. This is a lower version then the version that is blocking it. Question: Is this normal behaviour? My system is as follows: nbook64 # emerge --info Portage 2.1_pre2 (default-linux/amd64/2005.1, gcc-3.4.4, glibc-2.3.5-r2, 2.6.14-gentoo-r2 x86_64) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.14-gentoo-r2 x86_64 AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3000+ Gentoo Base System version 1.6.14 dev-lang/python: 2.3.5-r2, 2.4.2 sys-apps/sandbox: 1.2.12 sys-devel/autoconf: 2.13, 2.59-r6 sys-devel/automake: 1.4_p6, 1.5, 1.6.3, 1.7.9-r1, 1.8.5-r3, 1.9.6-r1 sys-devel/binutils: 2.16.1 sys-devel/libtool: 1.5.20 virtual/os-headers: 2.6.11-r2 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="amd64" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CBUILD="x86_64-pc-linux-gnu" CFLAGS="-march=k8 -pipe -O2" CHOST="x86_64-pc-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/lib/X11/xkb /usr/lib64/mozilla/defaults/pref /usr/share/config /var/qmail/control" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/env.d/java/ /etc/gconf /etc/java-config/vms/ /etc/splash /etc/terminfo /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-march=k8 -pipe -O2" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoconfig distlocks sandbox sfperms strict" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://distfiles.gentoo.org http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distributions/gentoo" MAKEOPTS="-j2" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/local/overlays/java-experimental" SYNC="rsync://rsync.namerica.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="amd64 X alsa audiofile avi berkdb bitmap-fonts bonobo bzip2 cdparanoia cdr crypt cups dba dbus dio directfb dvd dvdread eds emboss encode esd exif expat fam flac foomaticdb fortran gif glut gnome gnustep gpm gstreamer gtk gtk2 hal howl idn ieee1394 imap imlib ipv6 java jpeg junit kde kerberos lcms lm_sensors lzw lzw-tiff mad mng motif mozilla mp3 mpeg ncurses nls nptl nsplugin ogg openal opengl oracle oss pam pdflib perl png python qt quicktime readline samba sdl spell ssl tcpd tiff truetype truetype-fonts type1-fonts udev usb userlocales vorbis xinerama xml2 xpm xv zlib elibc_glibc kernel_linux userland_GNU" Unset: ASFLAGS, CTARGET, LANG, LC_ALL, LDFLAGS, LINGUAS
What version of poppler are you trying to emerge ? I have been able to reproduce this. But only happens if stable xpdf is already installed & poppler is unmasked. Not really a bug. If you have unmasked poppler, then you'll also need to unmask xpdf.
You no longer need xpdf for cups. If you need it otherwise, you need to unmerge the old version and unmask and emerge 3.01-r4 No bug here.
