Serious problems with the GUI. It seems to be quite sluggish (at least more than 1.0.7). The bookmarks toolbar doesn't work at all - I cannot open a popup-menu using the second mouse button (as you can see in a picture in the url provided) nor add/check any previous bookmarks. The extensions updater (shows up on the very first startup) complains about some Pinball plugin although I haven't had any extensions, only mplayer-, flash- and java-plugins and a theme. Now that I've tested the bookmarks bar, it seems the main menubar doesn't work anymore either. The menus won't open with a mouse / hotkey :( The binary version does work a bit better. The bookmarks toolbar works, but I haven't tested it a lot. Expected Results: Clean emerge process. No problems with the GUI. regchrome is called from 1.0.7 ignore it that is nothing to be concerned about. Also try moving $HOME/.mozilla to $HOME/.mozilla-orig and start up firefox to rule out a problem in the profile update please.
In addition, the app says "Deer Park" in the title bar, about dialog, about: page and in the graphics instead of Mozilla Firefox.
(In reply to comment #2) > In addition, the app says "Deer Park" in the title bar, about dialog, about: > page and in the graphics instead of Mozilla Firefox. > Invalid i can do nothing about it ... that is cause we are not permitted to enable official branding, until such a time mozilla foundation gives us permissions I will not enable it sorry.
As all previous unofficial builds said Mozilla Firefox along with the non-branded blue images I had assumed use of the title was OK. My apologies.
You have not said if moving your old profile out of way and creating a new one has helped with anything. Do you wish to comment?
(In reply to comment #5) > You have not said if moving your old profile out of way and creating a new one > has helped with anything. Do you wish to comment? Ok, I moved the profile out of away. Here are the results: - The bookmark toolbar still doesn't work. (Although it's not sluggish anymore.) - The extensions problem disappeared. - It's still Deer Park, not Mozilla Firefox - Java applets using the applet-tag don't work, object-tag works fine. I unmerged the mozilla-firefox and emerged mozilla-firefox-bin. Now all Java applets, bookmark toolbar and everything else works fine. Even the name of the browser is Mozilla Firefox (about box, title bar) instead of Deer Park. The binary build doesn't complain about reg-chrome, but on first startup it says that the chrome registration has failed. How delightful :/
I experience the same problems. Also upon first starting Firefox opens http://www.mozilla.org/projects/deerpark/alpha2.html This page displays: "Deer Park Alpha 2 Start Page" and "The Deer Park build you are using is NOT A FINAL OR PRE-RELEASE"

How delightful :/ I get the same problem. When starting up, I get a popup window titled "Chrome Registration Failed" containing a yellow triangle with black exclamation point followed by this text: "Deer Park could not install this item because of a failure in Chrome Registration. Please contact the author about this problem." Of course, this message unhelpfully says nothing about which particular bit of chrome failed to be registered! This particular problem went away when I used a new profile for testing. I'll have to try enabling each of my extensions one-by-one to find out which one is failing. It would really help if the error popup window identified which thing was failing!

It is the talkback extention that is the problem. Known issue and I will be doing a bump later today to fix the problem. As for the sluggish source build I do not experience and all users that have tested it for me do not experience it. Granit we are all running testing setups not mixing stable and testing packages. Once I commit the -r1 on -bin-1.5 I will be closing as works for me.

The original bookmarks toolbar / popup-menu seems to be fixed now (it may have been a bug in one of the dependencies?). The UI isn't sluggish anymore. The weird pinball-plugin was an old theme, nothing serious. The previous chrome bug on first startup didn't show up on another test machine (it didn't have previous firefox installations). I'll take another look at the Java applet problem now. BTW, why isn't Gentoo source build allowed to use the brand "Firefox 1.5" - it has already been released officially (see the binary build). And why does FF 1.5 use different (uglier) fonts than FF 1.0.x?
(In reply to comment #11) > I'll take another look at the Java applet problem now. Yes, the java problem is also fixed now. It seems that all previous problems have been fixed. You may close this bug now, if you wish.
As original problem seems to be fixed closing.
