Description SAngeli 2005-11-11 02:53:14 UTC
Hi,
Currently I run:
Linux 2.6.12-gentoo-r9 #5 Thu Sep 29 13:16:16 CEST 2005 x86_64 AMD Athlon(tm) 64
Processor 3200+ AuthenticAMD GNU/Linux

When I run revdep-rebuild I always get this error, reguardless if I unmerge and
emerge firefox again, and reguardless if I run revdep-rebuild several times:
broken /opt/firefox/components/libmozgnome.so (requires libxpcom.so libplds4.so
libplc4.so libnspr4.so libgconf-2.so.4 libORBit-2.so.0 liblinc.so.1
libgnomevfs-2.so.0 libbonobo-activation.so.4 libxml2.so.2 libgnome-2.so.0
libbonobo-2.so.0)
  broken /opt/firefox/components/libnkgnomevfs.so (requires libxpcom.so
libplds4.so libplc4.so libnspr4.so libgnomevfs-2.so.0 libbonobo-activation.so.4
libORBit-2.so.0 libxml2.so.2 liblinc.so.1)
  broken /opt/firefox/components/libnegotiateauth.so (requires libxpcom.so
libplds4.so libplc4.so libnspr4.so libgssapi_krb5.so.2)
 done.
  (/root/.revdep-rebuild.3_rebuild)

Also, from konsole, if I run firefox I always get this error too:
(firefox-bin:16078): Gdk-WARNING **: gdk_property_get(): length value has
wrapped in calculation (did you pass G_MAXLONG?)
*** loading the extensions datasource

This way I am #never# able to succesfull run revdep-rebuild.

Please let me know, if possible.

thank you,
Spiro

revdep-rebuild and binary packages don't make friends... Try your luck with
SEARCH_DIRS_MASK in ~arch versions of gentoolkit. For other firefox-bin issues,
file a separate bug if there's not one yet.

There is a script in Bug #62644 that should fix this. Basically you want to
Edit /etc/make.conf and add SEARCH_DIRS_MASK="<wherever it is installed. /opt I
think>"

This is really a problem for all binary packages on a system and as such is
really a duplicate of Bug #83852 and #32276.

Reopen to track mozilla/firefox issues here...
Comment 4 Jory A. Pratt 2005-12-03 07:13:30 UTC
this is handled by revdep-rebuild currently. You can add an file just like env.d
same format to stop revdep from trying to rebuild binary packages. an example
would be /etc/revdep-rebuild/11mozilla-firefox-bin with an entry like
SEARCH_DIRS_MASK="/opt/firefox". Next bump we will include a revdep-rebuild
entry for the users.
