From homepage: <snip> Serverstats is a simple tool for creating graphs using rrdtool. Serverstats does not have any features to manage the created rrd-files, if you change anything you have to delete and recreate the files. Perhaps you can avoid this using third-party-tools. Also there is no frontend managing your graphs and sources. You will have to use your $EDITOR. Serverstats is build to be configured once and then run and run and ... I created this because Cacti was much to overloaded and I disliked that it depends on a database. </snip> Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce:
Created attachment 67942 [details] serverstats-0.6 ebuild This in currently not ready for portage. The ebuild works OK, but the package needs documentation and some basic working configuration to start with perhaps, plus more configuration samples.
Created attachment 68593 [details] serverstats-0.7 ebuild New version is out. Attached a modified ebuild.
Created attachment 68594 [details, diff] postinstall-en.txt Basic postinstall instructions, put into ${FILESDIR}. If it does not work for you, complain upstream - http://www.webmasterpro.de/~ddanier/serverstats/
Thanks Jakub. serverstats is now in our unofficial overlay: http://svn.gnqs.org/projects/gentoo-webapps-overlay/browser Please note that the overlay is unofficial, not a Gentoo project, and not supported. It is intended to provide easier access to new web applications.
Serverstats has moved to BerliOS, so the download-URL should be updated. (Version 0.7 stays online unter the old URL, but future releases will use BerliOS) New URL: http://serverstats.berlios.de/ Downloads: http://developer.berlios.de/project/showfiles.php?group_id=5571
Thanks, updated
But does it belong to "www-apps"? Similar software like cacti or mrtg "live" in "net-analyzer". IMHO similar packages should be in the same portage directory. And what means "RESOLVED UPSTREAM"? AFAIR there were some problems with an older version, now there is a nice project page (berlios.de), some docs and the package will basically work out-of-the-box, without difficult configuration. serverstats-0.7 works perfectly here, it's quite stable (and has >1.000 downloads)! Hopefully there will be a 0.8 release soon, which will include a traffic source/graph which works without snmp, iptables and without any configuration!

We'll reassess its category if/when it is moved into the official tree. > And what means "RESOLVED UPSTREAM"? Only that it is in our overlay. > AFAIR there were some problems with an > older version, now there is a nice project page (berlios.de), some docs and the > package will basically work out-of-the-box, without difficult configuration. Yes, the ebuild has been updated.
Created attachment 80183 [details] serverstats-0.8.ebuild New ebuild keeps sources/traffic, because traffic-source depends on it. Everything else is just a version bump.
Created attachment 139463 [details] Updated version of the ebuild
(In reply to comment #10) > Created an attachment (id=139463) [edit] > Updated version of the ebuild I don't understand what did you update. Attach a unified diff against current overlay ebuild please.
I took the ebuild from the webapps overlay (http://overlays.gentoo.org/proj/webapps/browser/experimental/www-apps/serverstats/serverstats-0.8.ebuild) and added "sources/external/cacti/LICENSE" to the files being removed (line 48), as LICENSE gets removed, too. The rest is just a version bump. ;-)
