Description Andrew Resch 2005-08-24 01:16:06 UTC
andrew@fractal ~ $ /usr/X11R6/libexec/gnome-settings-daemon
The program 'gnome-settings-daemon' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadValue (integer parameter out of range for operation)'.
  (Details: serial 949 error_code 2 request_code 116 minor_code 0)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)
[1124871285,000,xklavier.c:XklStartListen/] The backend does not require
manual layout management - but it is provided by the application

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.start a gnome session
2.
3.

Comment 1 John N. Laliberte (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-09-26 13:56:58 UTC
what version of control-center do you have installed ?
Comment 2 Andrew Resch 2005-09-26 15:39:17 UTC
I have 2.12.0 installed now, but it was the same with 2.10.. Reading through the
forums, it may be a result of using the new evdev driver in Xorg (im using
6.8.99.15-r2)
Comment 3 John N. Laliberte (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-10-14 19:27:24 UTC
"but it was the same with 2.10"

Does this mean you still have the original problem?
Comment 4 Andrew Resch 2005-10-14 19:32:57 UTC
Yes, it will still refuse to start with the same error message.
Comment 5 Saleem Abdulrasool (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-01-15 23:38:45 UTC
Would you please compile it with CFLAGS="-O -g" FEATURES="nostrip" and then attach the gdb backtrace of this to this bug?
