Hi!
Please find attatched ghostpcl-1.41.ebuild and a patch so that it compiles
on amd64.
ghostpcl is a suite of utilities/scripts for viewing Windows PCL print files
and converting to PDF. Commercial PCL viewers/converters are relatively
expensive (~$1500) considering that foomatic can do the reverse conversion
of ps/pdf to PCL. The viewer is crude (it displays one page at a time and
waits for a carriage return to display the next), but the pcl2pdf script
is more useful for converting the Windows print files to a format readable by
kpdf or acroread. ghostpcl comes bundled with urwfonts but I've elected
instead to add a dependency on urw-fonts (mainly because the crude Makefile
installs the urwfonts into /windows/fonts). ghostpcl provides some useful
shell scripts in its tools directory and I've installed some but not all of
them. pcl6 is the workhorse program for displaying/converting pcl files.

Some type of pcl to pdf converter is becoming a necessity because of the
fast growing trend of, for example, mortgage banking companies posting
loan documents in pcl format on WebPostServers instead of FedEx-ing the
documents. The banks save printing costs and FedEx costs and bypass the
security/size restrictions of email. Windows recipients get their loan docs
faster. Linux recipients have a major hurdle. They need to have a printer
which understands pcl and they need to set up a raw spool for it. And they
need to print the actual document, which could be 100s of pages long, or
run at least one Windows machine, just to see it. To complicate matters
further, each mortgage company seems to choose a different WPS, each with
its own proprietary WindowsXP unzip/print program. I've literally had to
install more than a dozen proprietary unzip/pcl-print programs. It's
ridiculous. Most of the loan docs can however be unzipped with gnu unzip,
unless an encryption password is part of the downloaded program. Hence
the need for a linux pcl viewer/converter.
