When using the 2005.1 live cd, X windows screen saver starts and requires a password for user gentoo. The user gentoo is automagicly (tm) loged on to the system and a password is not provided. So when the screen saver asks for a password only way out for a noob is to reboot. tryed using a blank password, didn't work. tryed using gentoo as the password, didn't work. tryed using ootneg as the password, didn't work. tryed using other rnd passwords, didn't work. could not change the user name. eg: tryed loging in as root Huge bummer for some one new like me to start an install and get locked out of the system and have to reboot, AND rember to move the mouse or hunt down a screen saver setting, or find out the password... sounds like something *gasp* microsoft might do. lol just kidding. (who says bug reports have to be boring and to the point?) Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. boot the live cd 2. try to use the new gui installer 3. go to sleep 4. wake up and find the screen saver locked Actual Results: This is geting redundent... the screen saver is locked, password not known Expected Results: not lock the screen saver was trying to install gentoo to the hard disk using the new gui installer. side note, the installer did not installl any thing, just wiped my partions. set severity to critical, becasue it made the system un-usable after the screen saver starts. there is probley a real easy fix for this (change the default screen saver settings, and it may not be broken eg: you just need to know the default password for the user gentoo on a live cd, but i never saw a password.) but some thing this simple should not happen.
