I successfully emerged media-libs/libart_lgpl-2.3.17.

Reproducible: Didn't try
Steps to Reproduce:
1. cd /usr/portage/media-libs/libart_lgpl
2. ekeyword ppc-macos libart_lgpl-2.3.17.ebuild
3. ebuild libart_lgpl-2.3.17.ebuild digest
4. emerge libart_lgp1

Actual Results:

Those libraries need an extension (most likely dylib) on them.

yeah, thats a result of the gnome2 eclass calling elibtoolize, which results in the missing dylib extensions. 
This seems to be happening a lot more since tiger on several packages. Might be time to update the ELT* 
stuff for darwin... Lina weren't you the one who wrote darwintoolize originally? I'll try poking around and 
see what I can find...
