looks like all major parts of kde-3.3.1 are available via portage now, just the
i18n seems to be still missing

kde-i18n-3.3.1.ebuild
this is a proposal for an ebuild based on the 3.3.0 ebuild.
the only change is using the commented line for MY_PV instead of the special
one added for 3.3.0.
I made the same modifications
Works for me too (LINGUAS=fr)
waiting for portage to be updated so :)
is there any particular reason why one week after kde has been updated to 3.3.1
the i18n packages still lacks an ebuild ?
it takes me a while to run the Manifest digests.
Problem: kde-i18n-it doesn't work! Error while compiling...
I can not apply that patch... what directory should I use it from?
mmm... wait, I just discovered that kde-i18n-it _works_ here, and in fact
there are already the compiled index.cache.bz2 files inside the package, the
compilation really has nothing to do. So why does it fail for you?
Instead I have the same problem reported on bugs.kde.org... I can't think of
different sources as the digest should be different too...
Tomorrow I'll try appling your provided patch.
I rediffed the patch in the unified format and changed the ebuild, now it works
because I was having problems applying it with epatch. This patch is only a
revert to the old CVS file version, so not a real fix; but this is what the
translators did in kde CVS
I'll attach them.
This made the trick ;) ! It work without problem for me, thank you.

Caleb, I think that this patch should go in kde-i18n as its not marked stable
and it will give troubles to all the users that uses the italian localization.
please commit if you can - i don't use i18n so I cannot test it right now.
I've added the patch and tested it. It worked well for me with and without
italian localization. The patch was too big so it isn't in the portage but on
my dev space.
If someone can test it I'll be happy. Thanks.
