Many older applications require lib-compat in order to run properly.  The x86 part of lib-compat should be included in app-emulation/emul-linux-x86-baselibs as part of the 32bit libraries.  This is necessary to run programs such as Waterloo Maple.

Steps to Reproduce:
I downloaded the lib-compat tarball ran the following:
cp lib-compat-1.3/x86/libstdc++-libc6.1-1.so.2 /emul/linux/x86/usr/lib

This let me continue with the Maple9 installation.

emerge emul-linux-x86-compat (masked until all the new emul libs are done, but safe to use)
