You obviously ignored the disclaimer... While the download page may contain a disclaimer, the Handbooks do not and still mention[0] the GLI. I frequently see users on #gentoo attempting to use the GLI because of this. I urge the developers to reopen this issue until the Handbooks have been updated. [0] http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/handbook/handbook-x86.xml?part=1&chap=2 from http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/handbook/handbook-x86.xml?part=1&chap=2 the current browseable documentation "Important: If you wish to install Gentoo without a working Internet connection, or would like to use one of the provided installers, please use the installation instructions described in the Gentoo 2008.0 Handbooks." "The Gentoo Installer LiveCD contains everything you need to install Gentoo. It provides a graphical environment, a graphical as well as console based installer which automatically carries out the installation for you, and of course, the installation instructions for your architecture." Because I don't think anyone's listening on here any more, I've filed a new issue for this: http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=276541 If that gets closed as well I plan to complain on the -devel mailing list as I really don't think this issue is invalid in any way, shape or form. not invalid *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 260403 *** |
