I have also problems with this -r5 release, -r4 works fine. I get my screen messed up and after few minutes X crashes... nothing gets logged about that problem. I have Intel 945GME, UXA, DRI2 and GEM. I'll post more info when I get back home. Everything's fine here. Did you all recompile your x11-drivers/ ? If not, that is likely to be the cause for your issues. (In reply to comment #2) > Everything's fine here. Did you all recompile your x11-drivers/ ? If not, that > is likely to be the cause for your issues. > I did recompile kernel, driver and did even "emerge -evDN xorg-server". In my case X does run, but DRI/DRI2 fails and there is a bad screen flicker in KDE. This in Xorg.0.log: (II) AIGLX: Screen 0 is not DRI2 capable (II) AIGLX: Screen 0 is not DRI capable (II) AIGLX: Loaded and initialized /usr/lib/dri/swrast_dri.so (II) GLX: Initialized DRISWRAST GL provider for screen 0 I assume this is what causes compiz to fail? Same issue here (intel i915GM + KMS + ...), -r4 still works fine. I think this bug is also related to 275861 and 275852. (In reply to comment #0) > Start X for the command line and it fails. So much for having bugs taken care of. No reply from a bug man for four days. Please remember Gentoo developers are volunteers and may well have other commitments. In the meantime you can roll back to the previous build to get a working system. > I'm seeing other problems with the -r5 build and have reverted to -r4 to get a working system. I haven't looked at the changes made for -r5 as the ChangeLog entry is a rather cryptic: backport some more patches from upstream's 1.6 nominations, bump dri2proto and the patches seem to be all bundled together in the ebuild. http://www.x.org/wiki/Server16Branch this dri2 seem to be fixed in the next version, but its no the curent portage i am running the newest version of xorg, version 1.6.1.902 which solved the problem. test it ! *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 275861 *** |
