*** Bug 279828 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** A temporary solution to this problem is symlinking $HOME/music.raw to /dev/null :) (In reply to comment #2) > A temporary solution to this problem is symlinking $HOME/music.raw to /dev/null > :) I don't like having too many files in ~. I'm quite tidy when it comes to files on my computer. A better "hacky" workaround would have been a script symlinking it, then executing gweled and deleting the link after the game ends. Anyway, doesn't really matter because the real solution is just a tiny little patch. Shouldn't MikMod_RegisterAllDrivers() be registering alsa/oss with a higher priority than the file output? It does. It falls back to the disk writer when the network and hardware drivers fail. (In reply to comment #4) > Shouldn't MikMod_RegisterAllDrivers() be registering alsa/oss with a higher > priority than the file output? > Maybe a running pulseadudio server fracked it up by blocking the audio hardware. That's probably what it is in my case. Imho it should never fall back to file output in an application like that. (In reply to comment #1) > *** Bug 279828 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** This duplicate bug has a patch to gweled. Haven't tested it, not sure if it works. There is also the bug 97507, which claims to have fixed libmikmod with 3.2.0_beta, but the latest comment (#12) says it is messed again. Anyway, the current libmikmod seems broken. With that said, 3.2.0_beta2-r2 has USE="raw" to enable/disable the raw file write plug-in now. I'm going to close this bug out. It's not really a bug so much as unexpected, probably-not-desired behavior. With the addition of the raw use flag to libmikmod though it's not an issue. Basically, if your sound setup isn't correct there won't be any sound, but unless you specifically asked for the raw driver (in which case, you would be know what the file output was about) it won't fill up your drive with sound output. |
