We have been discussing this in #gentoo-dev. Seems to be a bug in pciutils.
Created attachment 434784 [details, diff] add necessary bits to ensure a pci_init for LIBPCI_3.0 exists It looks like upstream's attempt at versioning pci_init was only partly finished. I've completed it using what they've done with pci_fill_info as a basis, and build-testing has resulted in a libpci.so.3 which does now contain pci_init for LIBPCI_3.0
(In reply to Ian Stakenvicius from comment #2) can't make the situation any worse :). plus pciutils builds super fast, so bumping the -r# isn't a big deal here. feel free to land.
Committed, thanks for the ack! Also submitted the patch upstream (see URL). I'll leave the bug open until upstream decides to do whatever they're going to do. commit bcf44e3ced194129a6a63ac84f6a7723941d4dd7 Author: Ian Stakenvicius <axs@gentoo.org> Date: Fri May 20 12:33:57 2016 -0400 sys-apps/pciutils-3.5.0: fix missing pci_init for LIBPCI_3.0 Bug: http://bugs.gentoo.org/583580 Package-Manager: portage-2.2.28
