Its a big problem. Since its intalls a lot of garbage in /usr

Even worse: dev-dn/myodbc also compiles and installs something of mysql-connector.
At least in the ebuild proposed as solution for bug #442322, the mysql-connector part installs the same files in the very same, wrong position, generating a collision.

Just wanted to notify you that there's a suggested fix now in bug #442322.

*ping*
Comment 7 Octave Berry 2013-12-12 22:35:14 UTC
It appears to have been fixed. Currently using version 1.1.1 without the issue.
Comment 8 Frank Krömmelbein 2013-12-12 23:44:59 UTC
The problem ist NOT fixed with version 1.1.1.

From Ebuild:

	# docs are installed poorly
	rm -rf "${ED}"/usr/{ANNOUNCEMENT,COPYING,README}
	dodoc ANNOUNCEMENT README

So for me it is clear, that this error can't be fixed right now.

@Octave Berry
Are you really shure?
Try a :

emerge -C mysql-connector-c++ && emerge -1 mysql-connector-c++

I would bet, that the two files will return on your machine under /usr ;-)
Comment 9 Octave Berry 2013-12-24 16:15:29 UTC
@Frank Krömmelbein
You won the bet, I got mistaken by a manual patch (my … I should have added a revision).

The issue is still there.

Fixed along with version bump to 1.1.3
