so what to do?????? should I expect a patch or manually change the src_config file i will be really happy if the ebuild is fixed and one can run update from portage only I don't wanna tamper with portage files *scared :-S * ~S
(In reply to comment #14) > so what to do?????? > should I expect a patch or manually change the src_config file > i will be really happy if the ebuild is fixed and one can run update from > portage only > I don't wanna tamper with portage files I'm sure, vapier added this line for a reason (see bug #257038 for more information). My comment was primarily mentioned as a hint to what's causing this error. If you don't want to mess with ebuilds yourself then wait until this problem gets fixed which will happen sooner or later.
(In reply to comment #11) > When I remove the following line from src_compile, I can successfully install > wine-1.1.16: > > use amd64 && ! use win64 && multilib_toolchain_setup x86 > That didn't fix it for me...same error after I commented that out.

Created attachment 183763 [details] fixed ebuild for wine from git this should build on amd64.
(In reply to comment #19) > Created an attachment (id=183763) [edit] > fixed ebuild for wine from git Provide a patch against current ebuild please.
(In reply to comment #19) > Created an attachment (id=183763) [edit] > fixed ebuild for wine from git > > this should build on amd64. I'm not sure removing the line I mentioned in my first comment is the way to go. Like I said before I simply posted this as a hint where the problem comes from (or else I would have attached an ebuild patch myself). If you really _want_ to use wine-1.1.16, remove that line. Otherwise please wait until some dev fixes this the right way.
while waiting for the right fix perhaps you could remove ~amd64 from keywords. since it doesn't actually on that arch?
(In reply to comment #22) > while waiting for the right fix perhaps you could remove ~amd64 from keywords. > since it doesn't actually on that arch? > Use "amd64" arch due to "~amd64" is for testing.
That's why it should be removed from ~amd64 for now. Testing occured and it showed that it doesn't work for most. So pull it out, try a fix and then put it back. In the meantime ~amd64 users can do an emerge -uD world without error on wine and test (use) other stuff.
(In reply to comment #24) > That's why it should be removed from ~amd64 for now. Testing occured and it > showed that it doesn't work for most. So pull it out, try a fix and then put it > back. In the meantime ~amd64 users can do an emerge -uD world without error on > wine and test (use) other stuff. > Ebuild compilation testing is the testing too. There are many packages in ~amd64 which currently doesn't build on AMD64. And nobody <strike>cares</strike>complaints. You can just wait for fix in the main portage tree, put that package into package.mask or apply fix in the local portage tree.
I care. and yes you could put it in profiles/package.mask too (and yes I know you meant /etc/portage/package.mask) . but that would mask it for x86 users as well. if a package doesn't build then it shouldn't have keywords for that arch. If I find any of these other packages that don't build I will complain about those being improperly keyworded and having build errors too. we don't add things to I notice that ~alpha isn't in the keywords? why? does it not build there? how 'bout ~ia64?
I agree with Caleb. If it does not work on ~arch, remove it and just put it back in after you applied a fix. (Whether that fix works or not will then be tested and in the worst case you can remove ~arch again.) If that contradicts official Gentoo policies, then those policies are imho plain wrong.
actually he shouldn't put it back in until we verify it. we can unmask it ourselves for testing. of course he should test it before committing it.
Confirming the build error on my amd64 system. Works perfectly fine on my 32bit Intel Celeron-M system. Removing the package from ~amd64 seems the logical answer to this problem.
+ 04 Mar 2009; Peter Alfredsen <loki_val@gentoo.org> wine-1.1.16.ebuild: + Dropping amd64 keyword w.r.t. bug 260726. This doesn't build on amd64. + amd64, I mucked with your keywords. Please re-add when appropriate.
same Issue here. (similar one for 1.1.15) on completely new install
I had no problem compiling 1.1.15 on amd64! However, 1.1.16 did not compile, that is true. Maybe the problem is not in the package itself then, at least for 1.1.15?
FWIW, as a ~amd64 user, I just resynced, and I found that wine wants to downgrade to 1.1.14. However, I installed 1.1.15 just fine a few weeks ago. My only problem today is 1.1.16. Why did 1.1.15 get pulled too? Are lots of people having trouble with it too? FWIW, I think my copy of 1.1.15 was installed Feb. 23: $ ls -l `which wine` -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 9532 2009-02-23 14:25:26.000000000 -0600 /usr/bin/wine Thanks! ------------------------ # emerge -uDNpvt world These are the packages that would be merged, in reverse order: Calculating dependencies... done! Peter Alfredsen, wtf? Why 1.1.15 marked as "-amd64" too?
I removed the multilib_toolchain_setup x86 part and put $(use amd64 && ! use win64 && echo --libdir=/usr/lib32) \ in the econf part. additionally I could remove inherit multilib. It works fine that way. please mark those ebuilds ~amd64 asap, please.
I could put this bug in the "that's simply sick" category. But anyway, if I understood all the comments and related bugs correctly, the workaround of "multilib_toolchain_setup" may no longer be required. Please read http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=17340 and reconsider the "fixes". Personally, I can't really contribute here - I'm on x86.
Anyway, from that bug, the important part seems to be the one, pointing to this commit: http://source.winehq.org/git/wine.git/?a=blobdiff;f=configure.ac;h=4453592816d94d4c71b3ee49f3f04a6907f64256;hp=3dfada3ff6b6e3ed8ada2886d434190022dc86f1;hb=4d135d9a71477baa9ffca530b2e3046c3e0a7a26;hpb=95251a78e88f2fb44cc711b10d1243fe6671e470
Keywords restored to 1.1.15 since apparently not everybody has problems compiling that. New bug filed to track that error at bug 261197
Solution at comment #35 worked for me. Thanks Malte. Now I don't need to revert to wine-1.1.12 :) but can update
(In reply to comment #39) > Solution at comment #35 worked for me. > > Thanks Malte. Now I don't need to revert to wine-1.1.12 :) but can update > Tried this under ~amd64 and still not compiling. 1.1.15 as well as 1.1.16 fails to compile.
I think something changed somewhere outside of wine, maybe in the toolchain or some dependency, which has caused the problem with 1.1.15. I successfully upgraded to 1.1.15 a couple of weeks ago (feb-23), and it installed fine. However, *now*, if I try to re-emerge 1.1.15, it crashes with the same error as 1.1.16. Something else has changed in my system to cause this to fail between February 23 and now, March 5. (Has the 1.1.15 ebuild changed?) (I'll be happy to post a complete build log and emerge --info if a dev needs it.) # emerge -pvt wine These are the packages that would be merged, in reverse order: Calculating dependencies... done! Had the same problem like reported in comment #44 with wine-1.1.15 and -1.1.16. Reopening.

Got the same as well (ref: comment #44, #47, #48). Is there a specific reason not to apply a patch undoing the wine git change referred to in comment #42? I tested putting the lines back and then the current 1.1.16 compiled on amd64. (Naturally this would mean ugly extra work for maintainers for every future Wine release, so there probably is a better way to fix this.)
mmm the patch i committed wasnt exactly what i tested http://sources.gentoo.org/app-emulation/wine/files/wine-1.1.15-winegcc.patch?r1=1.1&r2=1.2

The problem actually is finally fixed.
If the patch that is now applied against wine-1.1.15 and wine-1.1.16 is merely a workaround then this bug should be reopened. Did someone already report this upstream?

Latest emerge --sync and emerge wine and it now fully compiles on ~amd64 Good job guys!
Fixed on the ebuild of the 1.1.16 version but not the 9999 ;-) Just a simple question... How to pass the checksum test of the ebuild?
(In reply to comment #56) > Fixed on the ebuild of the 1.1.16 version but not the 9999 ;-) > Just a simple question... How to pass the checksum test of the ebuild? > # ebuild /usr/local/portage/app-emulation/wine/wine-9999.ebuild digest
live ebuild still broken like this
upstream said that this is fixed in git [1] this is indeed the case, but not for building with portage [1] http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=17498
