This is a stabilization bug for gnome-base/gnome-2.14.2.

Attached you will find the keyword list.

I have been in contact with wolf31o2, so we've been making sure it ends up in the snapshot. The stabling list comes directly from him with just a few minor edits. ( thanks Chris! )

If you run into any problems or issues, please ping myself or the gnome herd.

Thanks!

is it okay that the 2.8 versions of the sharp stuff is stabled?
Comment 4 Christian Faulhammer (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-07-08 02:08:08 UTC
Stabled Gnome 2.14 a while ago on my system...it worked good with GCC 3.4.6 (last stable on x86) and even with GCC 4.1.1 I have no problems. Will report results on my stable chroot later.

gnome-2.14-keywords_corrected

All packages have now an "=" in front
Added some missing but needed libraries (libxklavier pango vte libwnck)
corrected a typo (x11-li instead of x11-terms for gnome-terminal)
Comment 6 Matthias Langer 2006-07-08 07:23:09 UTC
i've upgraded to gnome-2.14.2 [ cdr dvdr hal -accessibility ] a few hours ago and did not experience any problems on my stable x86 system. Needless to say that i did not test every single package that comes with the metabuild, but besides the basics (nautilus, metacity, gnome-panel, ...) i've allready used:

gnome-system-monitor-2.14.4 USE="-debug"
gnome-terminal-2.14.2 USE="-debug"
gnome-extra/gconf-editor-2.14.0 USE="-debug"

mail-client/evolution-2.6.2-r1
USE="crypt dbus gstreamer hal ipv6 spell ssl -bogofilter -debug -doc -kerberos -krb4 -ldap -mono -nntp -pda -profile -widescreen"

evince-0.5.3-r1 USE="dbus dvi nautilus tiff -debug -djvu -doc -t1lib"

media-video/totem-1.4.2
USE="a52 dbus dvd flac gnome mad mpeg ogg theora vorbis xine xv -debug -lirc -nsplugin -nvtv"

media-gfx/eog-2.14.2 USE="jpeg lcms -debug"

and some more ...
Comment 7 Peter Johanson (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-07-08 08:30:52 UTC
The *-sharp-2.8.x should be fine for stabalisation now. You'll probably want to stabalise the versions of gecko-sharp and gtksourceview-sharp that compile against the 2.x stuff as well. (let me know if you want any details on what all should get marked stable, etc).
Comment 8 Alex Maclean 2006-07-08 08:55:31 UTC
Been using it for some time now on unstable systems, just finished updating on my stable install. All seems good so far, save two problems: gnome-settings-daemon will fail to start after logging out and back in when using evdev (or other 'odd' mouse setups). Works fine on first login, but after that, you must restart gdm. Also, totem will not play wmv files properly. With gstreamer backend, no video, but audio is fine. With xine backend, it just doesn't work. Stable (1.2.1-r1) works just fine with gstreamer backend.

mono threw an error. Unmerge mono, emerge mono helped (but this issue seems to be known.

with update to gnome-2.14.2 media-gfx/imagemagick-6.2.5.5 will recompile. this failed with compile error against media-libs/libpng-1.2.12.

keyworded media-gfx/imagemagick-6.2.6.0 works fine.

Yes, i noticed that too; guess this is bug 136452
Comment 14 Gustavo Zacarias (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-07-10 06:17:56 UTC
You really want =app-text/wv-1.2.0 rather than 1.2.1, see bug #131686
Comment 15 Denny Reeh 2006-07-10 12:19:10 UTC
x86: after emerge to gnome-2.14.2, revdep-rebuild says:

broken /usr/lib/gaim/gevolution.so (requires libedataserver-1.2.so.4)

[ebuild R ] net-im/gaim-1.5.0 USE="eds nls perl spell -cjk -debug -gnutls -minimal -nas -silc -tcl% -tk%" 0 kB

same file collision problem with hal pakage.

all gnome stuff looks good, evolution, gedit testet and works fine.

sparc stable, i win again! ;-)

Looks like we're done on x86... running a "repoman full" currently to be sure
Comment 18 Peter Johanson (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-07-12 13:50:14 UTC
Umm... Chris, what required the new mono-1.1.13.6 marked stable? I really wanted to have time to try to dig into bug #131569 before doing that. I have a suspicion a *lot* of users are going to hit that bug now, and I for one am not looking forward to it.
Comment 19 solar (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-07-12 15:57:13 UTC
Please fix yelp-2.14.2-r1.ebuild (it newly depends on mozilla) a vuln version at that. Itt should be replaced with seamonkey
Comment 20 John N. Laliberte (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-07-12 17:54:50 UTC
x86: could you stabilize yelp-2.14.2-r2 instead of -r1?

I had left -r1 there just in case -r2 had problems.
Comment 21 Matthias Langer 2006-07-12 18:16:54 UTC
i've just updated to yelp-2.14.2-r2 USE="firefox -debug" and browsed some manuals on my stable x86 system. seems to be ok for me.

ping/poke/knock knock..

allanonjl you are on the x86 team and the gnome teams.
Mind fixing the -r1 mess? It's breaking the action sets by causing blockers.
Comment 23 John N. Laliberte (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-07-13 07:25:33 UTC
generally I do not like marking gnome packages stable since its better to have another pair of eyes look at it.

its now stable on x86.
Comment 24 Joshua Jackson (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-07-13 10:11:16 UTC
Unfortunately, I was in the process of updating the virtual machine for the new version, and didn't want to do it untested. So thanks for doing it John.
Comment 25 Guillermo Marcus 2006-07-13 12:40:22 UTC
Uhm.. question. I emerged 2 days ago gnome 2.14 in a clean system, and the libgnomeui ebuild is broken. There is a patch (with little tweaking) available in: http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=139598

But why is 2.14 marked stable if this ebuild fails, and the ebuild has not been patched?
Comment 26 John N. Laliberte (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-07-13 12:45:36 UTC
@guillermo:

you unmasked gtk-2.10 from package.mask, see comment #4 on the bug you referenced.
Comment 27 solar (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-07-13 13:49:16 UTC
gnumeric-1.4.3-r3 appears to be only remaining broken ebuild
in the gnome upgrade path on x86.

After a partial upgrade, gnumeric-1.4.3-r2 also fails in the same way as gnumeric-1.4.3-r3:

Please make sure you mark:
totem-1.4.2-r1
yelp-2.14.2-r2

gnumeric should be fixed now.

see bug #131151 for details.

Everything (at least I hope so) stable on ppc, besides:
=app-admin/pessulus-0.9.1 (not in ~ppc for 30 days)
=app-misc/beagle-0.2.7 (depends on gnumeric)
=app-office/gnumeric-1.4.3-r3 (br0ken)

Both also stable by now, removing us from CC

Hi i just want to ask why did anyone mark beagle stable now ?

Nobody talked with me or Daniel to ask for stablization. I would appreciate next time for a request before doing that.
Comment 34 Tobias Scherbaum (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-07-16 10:46:36 UTC
gnome stable on hppa, some optional packages (cpp-bindings, ...) still missing, but being worked on
