After searching bugzilla here, I found another "similar" bugs with mono SIGSEGV
and tried

# emerge -C mono
# emerge mono

.... and mono compiles with that error

Sorry, mono compiles WITHOUT ANY ERROR

------- Comment #6 From Gilles Gagniard 2006-05-01 07:39:10 0000 -------
Ok, solved for me too when unmerging mono before reemerging it.

Strange, it means that mono uses the former installed one to build the newer
(when available), although it should always use the "bootstrap" that is
provided in the archive, like it does for a fresh install. So this is *truely*
a bug, even if the workaround is simple.

------- Comment #7 From Jani Averbach 2006-06-03 12:02:22 0000 -------
Same story here, with previous version (1.1.12.1-r1) of mono installed,
new (1.1.13.6) ebuild fails. After removing the old one, new one works
just fine.

Portage 2.1_rc4 (default-linux/amd64/2006.0/no-multilib, gcc-3.4.5,
glibc-2.3.6-r3, 2.6.16.17 x86_64)

I think those two bugs are dups.

Can everyone please test to see if the same build failure happens going from
1.1.13.x -> 1.1.16?

Based on ximian bug #77387 (http://bugs.ximian.com/show_bug.cgi?id=77387),
upstream seems to think this bug is fixed in recent releases. Thanks.

I tried going to upgrade 1.1.13.x -> 1.1.16, but emerge failed with same error
reported in Comment #15. So failure is different from my report at the
begginig. But trick to compile was same as before:

emerge -C mono && emerge mono

Also then upgrading 1.1.16 to 1.1.16.1 failed, again unmerging 1.1.16 and than
1.1.16.1 was emerged succesfully.

------- Comment #18 From Francisco José Cañizares Santofimia 2006-07-16 18:53:52 0000 -------
This also failed from 1.1.13.6 to 1.1.16.1.

------- Comment #19 From Wolfram Schlich 2006-08-07 05:39:39 0000 -------
so, any real solutions on this?
today I hit this trying to upgrade from =dev-lang/mono-1.0.6 to
=dev-lang/mono-1.1.13.6

------- Comment #20 From Wolfram Schlich 2006-08-07 06:16:04 0000 -------
And yes, unmerging and then merging mono worked.
