I ran mailgraph from CL with the same options as daemon process so I could see the -v messages It runs and created the rrd files and sits and waits for more log messages I created some more message by sending some email ... I see the -v messages but no changes to rrd files The only way I can get mailgraph to recreate and/or write to the rrd files is to reboot and rm the rrd files. Try ctrl-c to restart mailgraph ... tried to delete after a ctrl-c and reran mailgraph ... but no rrd files reboot ... and its starts all over again Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.See Details 2. 3. Actual Results: stale rrd files Expected Results: updated rrd files
If you grep the output, do you see something similar to: WARNING: ignoring future date in syslog line
I really don't know why I made this back into a blocker :)
You still having this problem? Its most likely a problem with your log file's timestamps.
Well, I'm going to assume it was this problem that is talked about on the mailgraph homepage: "The rrd and thus also graphs do not get updated anymore. The data in the rrd needs to be entered with data that is strictly in increasing time. If for some reason (wrong guessing by mailgraph of the year for example) you get a date in the future, then mailgraph will skip any data that you give it until it is bigger than that date. You can have a look with rrdtool dump to see what is the last timestamp in the database. If that happens, then you should get a correct rrd from backup and start to give it data with increasing time again."
