Description Nes Yarug 2005-07-20 16:35:43 UTC
When I or another service tries to start autdaemond an error message thrown:
 * You need an /etc/courier-imap/authdaemonrc file to run authdaemon

But authdeamonrc is not in /etc/courier-imap, but in /etc/courier/authlib.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.
2.
3.

Actual Results:
$ /etc/init.d/authdaemond start
 * You need an /etc/courier-imap/authdaemonrc file to run authdaemon

Expected Results:
authdaemonrc should have started.

You are not supposed to use that one at all. Do 'rc-update del authdaemond' and
then remove that initscript. It has been replaced by /etc/init.d/courier-authlib
a long time ago. Please, read the ebuild instructions carefully next time.
Comment 2 Nes Yarug 2005-07-20 17:16:08 UTC
Hmm, okay... But the reason I tried to start it was because some other services
failed to start and I thought this was the culprit. For example, I tried to
start courier-imap-ssl and the following error was thrown:
$ /etc/init.d/courier-imapd-ssl start
 * Caching service dependencies ...
                                  [ ok ]
 * Starting courier-authlib: authdaemond ...
                                  [ !! ]
 * ERROR: Problem starting needed services.
 *         "courier-imapd-ssl" was not started.

Hence, I thought authdeamond could not be started by courier-authlib?

Any chance this may resolve itself by re-emerging courier-authlib?

i have the same problem as u do Nes.

reemerging did nothing.

this is problem of starting courier-authlib (that provide authdaemond)
