Description Thomas Seifert 2005-06-15 00:55:01 UTC
I try to install awstats for using it with an alternate webserver (litespeed).
Pity that it requires to install apache2 in the same step.
Could the dependency on apache be removed or at least a use-flag added for that?

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:

Probably not, given the current state of webapp-config.
Comment 2 Aaron Walker (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-08-01 11:26:54 UTC
Jakub is correct. Until there's something like a virtual/httpd, there's not
much we can do.

Actually its pretty easy to install w/o apache.
Just made an overlay
commented apache stuff

enabled cgi + alias mod in lighttpd
configured /etc/awstats

all works fine...

With whole due respect, that's ridiculous to have apache depending there _and_ blocking the bug with RESOLVED CANTFIX. There are lot of us using awstat for say, mail and ftp servers, not mentioning those he just hate apache for some reason in favor of other webservers. And as Lukasz Wozniak and myself proves, employing {,no}apache flag helps things out. I believe it's all great for apache users to have that magic going on in ebuild, but some just don't care, and having hard to maintain overlay on a server is not the best way to workaround things.
