Description Bob 2005-06-04 13:55:29 UTC
When attempting to update a GCC 3.4.3 based system to GCC 3.4.4 using the
command "emerge gcc", the update fails.

when gcc-config -l is executed, the following output is issued:

<snip>
 * Switching to i686-pc-linux-gnu-3.4.4 compiler...
/usr/bin/python: error while loading shared libraries: libstdc++.so.6: cannot
open shared object file: No such file or directory
</snip>

interestingly, the file is actually present via a symlink in
/usr/lib/gcc/i686-pc-linux-gnu/3.4.4

the problem appears to be that GCC 3.4.4 is not updating the contents of
/etc/ld.so.conf. manually editing the file, followed by ldconfig -v solves the
problem. it looks like an ebuild problem to me.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.  emerge gcc 3.4.4 on a gcc 3.4.3 system
2.
3.

Actual Results:
failed update.

Expected Results:
successful update.
