Tv-fonts are not installed at least is what i think. Probably it doesn't like Unicode. Keymaps, and LC_ALL are all defined for using UTF-8. If you wan full emerge report just ask it. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Use latest xawtv (both 3.94 series crash) 2.emerge xawtv 3. Confirmed, using the same xorg-x11 build. Am I going mad or is it trying to run X?
I was trying to merge it like this: [ebuild N ] media-tv/xawtv-3.94-r2 +X +aalib +alsa -dv -lirc +mmx +motif +nls +opengl +quicktime +xv +zvbi 0 kB
Created attachment 60212 [details] My `emerge info`.
Created attachment 60217 [details] emerge info emerge info
Created attachment 60888 [details] The output of emerge -uDd world showing this problem I'm in the "POSIX" locale when building, and also using xorg-6.8.99.8; hopefully the -d will help show where the problem is.
I'm having the same problem and doing some digging around I noticed there is a more recent "TV Font" release from the folks at xawtv. You can find it here: http://dl.bytesex.org/releases/tv-fonts/tv-fonts-1.1.tar.bz2 Not sure if this might help, but at least maybe we should be using this release instead of the older 1.0 version.
Created attachment 68073 [details] New ebuild with new url for tv-fonts. tv-fonts-1.0.tar.bz2 no longer exists on the server. it has been replaced with tv-fonts-1.1.tar.bz2. Perhaps that file should be dropped into distfiles to avoid this in the future.
Please look here for a solution that works for me: http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=81987#c16 Regards.
Yes, i've completly forgotten this one.. In my case i've putted my fonts as (75 and 100)with :unscaled argument. FontPath "/usr/share/fonts/75dpi/:unscaled" FontPath "/usr/share/fonts/100dpi/:unscaled" FontPath "/usr/share/fonts/75dpi/" FontPath "/usr/share/fonts/100dpi/" The patch you've should work fine. And please update tvfonts to 1.1. (As you put in your ebuild) Sorry, i've completly forgot to give this solution... :)

Three issues in one go ;) Regards.
(In reply to comment #10) > If you call that patch xawtv-3.94-xv.patch add: It should be xawtv-3.94-autocolor.patch. Sorry
Fixed in 3.95.
