Description Pavel Riha 2005-05-27 04:53:13 UTC
Im not sure if it was after 'emerge sync' or 'emerge portage', but now any use
of emerge give error about 'str' object has no attribute 'insert'

(root@krovi)# emerge sync
!!! 'str' object has no attribute 'insert'
!!! 'rm -Rf /usr/portage/profiles; emerge sync' may fix this. If it does
!!! not then please report this to bugs.gentoo.org and, if possible, a dev
!!! on #gentoo (irc.freenode.org)
(root@krovi)# rm -Rf /usr/portage/profiles
(root@krovi)# emerge sync
.....
>>> Updating Portage cache...  ...done!

!!! 'str' object has no attribute 'insert'
!!! 'rm -Rf /usr/portage/profiles; emerge sync' may fix this. If it does
!!! not then please report this to bugs.gentoo.org and, if possible, a dev
!!! on #gentoo (irc.freenode.org)

so I'm here

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.
2.
3.

(root@krovi)# emerge info
!!! 'str' object has no attribute 'insert'
!!! 'rm -Rf /usr/portage/profiles; emerge sync' may fix this. If it does

Change /etc/profile back to /usr/portage/profiles/default-x86-2004.2 or
whatever is appropriate for your arch, update portage to >=2.0.51 (and note
that the deprecated notice includes instructions to update portage first) and
then switch your profile back again.

In the slim case that you were already running such a profile, please report
that back here.
