in: /etc/updatedb.conf

It should also exlude CIFS from the database, as CIFS is the new replacement for smbfs.

Huh? Fixed over one year ago!

 # grep cifs /etc/updatedb.conf
PRUNEFS="NFS nfs afs proc smbfs autofs auto iso9660 devfs tmpfs ramfs ncpfs
sysfs supermount devpts usbfs cifs nnpfs subfs udf"

Oh. My appologies. I just noticed this when I was going through my config files. I did try 
to search for this issue, but the search feature timed out.

Well, in that case you have chosen a wrong option when running etc-update. :-)
