When running emerge system, I get this message:

Oh I just read that I should be compiling flex first...
That should not be necessary when running a clean install while following the
manual. The bug should probably be looked for in the bootstrap process or the
tar archive for stage 1 ;)

"emerge system" is wrong, you need to run "emerge --emptytree system" - please
search for duplicate bugs and read the docs before reporting a new one.
