the elibtoolize seems to be pointless in this package ... why is it even there ?
Spanky: this wasn't originally my package, so I can't really comment on why that line was there. I've search for any resolve bugs concerning it, and find nothing. I've zapped the elibtoolize call, and put in a libtoolize --force --copy + aclocal which were needed to solve the ltmain.sh version mismatch stuff. Marking this FIXED, if you still experience any problems after emerge syncing and trying again, please feel free to re-open this. Thanks.
Now there is another error message still related to ltmain.sh, later when configure is running. Should I open a new bug report or should this still go in here and be reopened?

If you just synced, you may not have gotten the new version of the ebuild. If: grep elibtoolize /usr/portage/dev-dotnet/pnetlib/pnetlib*.ebuild shows any output, then you still have the old version, and you should wait a while, emerge sync again, and try once more. If you are still having problems and you know you have the new version of the ebuild, please re-open this bug and post the new error messages. Thanks.
Works, thanks!
yeah, `elibtoolize` is NOT a replacement for `libtoolize --copy --force` if you need the latter behavior, then use the latter form ;)
