as an addition this is a complete rebuild due to an m2 addition to the storage

Isync'd this morning with gentoo.org quite ok. But when I try my local repos this's what I get, happens every time.
As an addition I have changed the repos directory from "gentoo/portage" to just gentoo, this has eliminated the error msg's & allowed sync to complete normally on a regular basis
