I am using kernel 2.6.8-rc4. I have an usb-wlan network interface supported by the CVS drivers of http://at76c503a.berlios.de. Modprobing uhci-hcd works fine and it also kernel-autmatically loads the wlan modules: ---cut-on--- USB Universal Host Controller Interface driver v2.2 uhci_hcd 0000:00:07.2: Intel Corp. 82371AB/EB/MB PIIX4 USB uhci_hcd 0000:00:07.2: irq 11, io base 00006400 uhci_hcd 0000:00:07.2: new USB bus registered, assigned bus number 1 hub 1-0:1.0: USB hub found hub 1-0:1.0: 2 ports detected usb 1-1: new full speed USB device using address 2 /home/cvs/sascha/at76c503a/at76_usbdfu.c: USB Device Firmware Upgrade (DFU) handler v0.12beta23-static loading /home/cvs/sascha/at76c503a/at76c503.c: Generic Atmel at76c503/at76c505 routines v0.12beta23-static /home/cvs/sascha/at76c503a/at76c503-fw_skel.c: Atmel at76c503 (RFMD) Wireless LAN Driver v0.12beta23-static loading /home/cvs/sascha/at76c503a/at76c503-fw_skel.c: using compiled-in firmware /home/cvs/sascha/at76c503a/at76c503.c: $Id: at76c503.c,v 1.74 2005/03/08 01:33:14 jal2 Exp $ compiled Mar 26 2005 16:43:04 /home/cvs/sascha/at76c503a/at76c503.c: firmware version 1.101.2 #84 (fcs_len 4) /home/cvs/sascha/at76c503a/at76c503.c: device's MAC 00:06:f4:02:90:f4, regulatory domain ETSI (Europe - (Spain+France) (id 48) /home/cvs/sascha/at76c503a/at76c503.c: registered wlan0 usbcore: registered new driver at76c503-rfmd ---cut-off--- whenever I load the cipe modules http://sites.inka.de/sites/bigred/devel/cipe.html I get the Oops. In between I have stepped back to kernel v2.4.28-gentoo-r8 and I have no problems at all with usb, wlan and cipe, so my problem seem kernelrelated. FYI: I have to compile the at76c503 cvs-version and cipe v1.6.0 against the running kernel and it sources to get the correspondig modules and binaries. Do you think that I should post a bugreport to the kernel mailinglist, too? Or do you think that this case is due to the gentoo kernel patches? regards, Sascha
