Description Robert T Childers 2005-03-25 16:23:17 UTC
emerging kde-base/kdepim-3.4.0-r1 produces the following error message when compiled using gcc-3.4.3-20050110.

libtool: link: cannot find the library `/usr/lib/gcc/i686-pc-linux-gnu/3.4.3/libstdc++.la'
make[3]: *** [kabc2mutt] Error 1
make[3]: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/portage/kdepim-3.4.0-r1/work/kdepim-3.4.0/kabc/kabc2mutt'
make[2]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
make[2]: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/portage/kdepim-3.4.0-r1/work/kdepim-3.4.0/kabc'
make[1]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/portage/kdepim-3.4.0-r1/work/kdepim-3.4.0'
make: *** [all] Error 2

again we have an error where after an update of gcc to 3.4.3-20050110 programs file to compile because it installed gcc in /usr/lib/gcc/i686-linux-pc-gnu/3.4.3-20050110 instead of 3.4.3. I filed this under kdepim but the more I think about it I wonder if this shouldn't be filed as an error with gcc-3.4.3-20050110?

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.emerge gcc (to version 3.4.3-20050110)
2.emerge kdepim
3.

Actual Results:
application failed to compile.

Expected Results:
application should have compiled and installed the resulting binary.

I Think you´re right, to me it looks more like a gcc related problem.
I ran into the same problem.

As a workaround i created a symbolic link /usr/lib/gcc/i686-pc-linux-gnu/3.4.3/
pointing to gcc-3.4.3-20050110 and it compiled cleanly.

I did a fix_libtool_files.sh 3.4.3 and it worked...
