There is no recode patch in current xmms version. That makes impossible to work  with id3 tags in encoding different from locale. It's very actual for russian encodings.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Add to playlist file with different (from locale) id3 encoding.

Actual Results:  
Tag info is shown in wrong charset.

Expected Results:  
Tag info is shown in wright charset.

Our xmms codebase is too far off from 1.2.10 to make this reasonable.  xmms-mpg123 and xmms-vorbis have good locale support builtin including unicode, so make sure you're using xmms-mpg123 and not xmms-mad.

Using xmms-mpg123 don't solve ID3 editing problems.

I'm now add patch for XMMS portage-2006_01_10.tar.bz2 from RusXMMS (http://rusxmms.sourceforge.net/) in my local portage tree and successfully emerge it. It work fine!
Please, add this patches in portage tree.
