I've been unable to find a way of getting an lirc plugin going on beep-media-player, despite bug 68253 suggesting that it should be there. I've written an ebuild which takes the lirc component from the beep-extra-plugins package, and installs that only. This ebuild may be poorly named, I leave that to a developer's discretion! (I think it's a nice way of naming it, when a proper bmp-lirc plugin comes out, it can simply take the place of this semi-kludge). Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce:

Whoops, forgot to add... People looking at this bug should probably be aware of bug 62454. I'm not sure if a better solution is to rather re-do the ebuild for that bug.
Created attachment 53857 [details] bmp-lirc-0.2.2.ebuild Updated ebuild with ${MY_P} usage, and using ${VAR/a/b} notation to make the ebuild more flexible.
Resolving www.t17.ikarnet.pl... failed: Temporary failure in name resolution. No digest file available and download failed. The mentioned download location is not available, so I can not act on this bug, sorry. Please reopen if you have a working download location available. The attached "new" ebuild has a spurious / after the ${MY_P} assignment, but besides that it'll work.
Created attachment 53858 [details] bmp-lirc-0.2.2.ebuild Remove said spurious / from ${MY_P} logic.
The DNS works for me: russell@shell ~ $ host www.t17.ikarnet.pl www.t17.ikarnet.pl is an alias for ikar.t17.ikarnet.pl. ikar.t17.ikarnet.pl has address 156.17.235.253 www.t17.ikarnet.pl is an alias for ikar.t17.ikarnet.pl. www.t17.ikarnet.pl is an alias for ikar.t17.ikarnet.pl. Visiting the website based on IP address seems to work (no funny vhosting). Your ebuild does the trick (seems I did some silly things in my last one). Why have you set HOMEPAGE to http://www.sosdg.org/~larne/w/Plugin_list ? The plugin isn't even mentioned on that page.
Er, my bad, I see bmp-extra-plugins is mentioned. Looks good.
Alright, giving it another chance then, currently trying to digest this ebuild.
It's available again, good. Currently digesting and testing compile.
(in terminal) LIRC Plugin 0.2.2: could not init LIRC support That looks correct. The plugin built succesfully, did not segfault BMP when enabled or when using the configuration dialogs. I can't test the package further then that as I don't have IR hardware. I'm now adding this to CVS with the ~x86 keyword. Please give the new ebuild 2 hours to propagate before you sync your portage tree. Thank you for your report.
