Not sure about this, but KSplashML's documentation lists it as a binary
replacement for ksplash, and explicitly states it will overwrite the current
ksplash binaries.

 However.

 It puts the binaries, and the applnk directories in /usr/ hierach, instead of
/usr/kde/3/.
