gcc-11 is going stable soon. Please stabilize a version of dev-db/percona-xtrabackup that builds with it. 

Right now that is >=8.0.23.16

We need both branches. However, the fix is to add

> # code is not C++17 ready, bug #786402
> append-cxxflags -std=c++14

like we do for servers already.

Today I worked on this and I was pretty sure it worked but during my final test I run into build errors and now I can no longer build any 2.4.x with gcc-11. Needs more investigation.

If you investigate much longer you won't be able to build it anymore.
