I'm unable to check whether there is a newer handbook except from the date on the sitebar off the site. But I use the printed version ;-( Is it possible to - add a revision number - give the possibility to show a diff Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce:
Revision numbers are handled by CVS and have absolutely no use for users. Version numbers (the <version> element in our xml files) don't really carry any useful information and are never (should never) be updated with changing the date at the same time. If you want to track down revisions in CVS, you can use our viewCVS interface at http://www.gentoo.org/cgi-bin/viewcvs.cgi/ You can also subscribe to the gentoo-doc-cvs mailing list to be notifed of all commits under /doc/en/ If you're curious about version numbers, have a look at http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/overview.xml The date should be printed indeed. I'll take care of it.
Thanks for your comments. Printable guides and full handbooks now display the date element.
