If one tries to restart the netowrk device, while the network is down, all the netowrk services go down correctly. Later, when the network is back up, a subsequent restart of the network device brings up device, however, network services are NOT restarted and remain down. Network services must be restarted manually Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. unplug network 2. /etc/init.d/net.wlan0 restart (net services and network go down correctly) 3. (network is unalbe to start as there is temporarily no connection) 4. later... plug in network 5. /etc/init.d/net.wlan0 (net comes up, network services stay down however) Actual Results: all network services remain down, even though netwrok is up! must restart all network services manually Expected Results: restarted all the network services automatically I have a wireless card that is causing this problem, but I suppose a wired card will work the same.
Looks like a duplicate of bug 68190.
If ifplugd or netplug are controlling net.eth0 then the services will be stopped and started correctly if ifplugd and netplug take down net.eth0. If a manual restart of net.eth0 then occurs then the services will NOT be automatically started again due to manual intervention. That requires baselayout-1.12
