See thread on the forum. I have the same problem with x11-xorg: AltGr kills incremental searches or macro definitions. However, in normal entry mode, it works fine (but it prints "iso-level3-shift not defined" on the status bar) Recompiling Xemacs does not fix the problem. Upgrading x11-xorg to the latest available (~x86) version does not cwork either. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Open Xemacs 2.Start an incremental search with ^S 3.Type a character that needs AltGr (e.g. a square bracket on the French keyboard) Actual Results: The search is aborted with "iso-level3-shift not defined" AltGr also abort macro definitions. See https://bugzilla.redhat.com/beta/show_bug.cgi?id=137868 It seems that Xorg needs a simple patch https://bugzilla.redhat.com/beta/attachment.cgi?id=109626
Emacs guys, there's a patch for your end too if you're interested. See http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/bug-gnu-emacs/2004-10/msg00150.html -- linked from the RH bug.
This is a duplicate of bug #72614.
Looks like it's resolved in the original, bug #66508. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 66508 ***
