libqalculate fails at configuration time if XML parser module for perl is not present on the system. It probably should be added as a BDEPEND. Apparently dev-perl/XML-Parser is already a dependency for dev-util/intltool, which is in turn a BDEPEND for sci-libs/libqalculate. Both were present on my system, yet configuration failed. Reemerging first XML-Parser, then intltool resolved the issue. The aforementioned build error happened when running a system update via $ emerge -uND --keep-going=y --fail-clean=y --with-bdeps=y --backtrack=30 --jobs=4 --load-average=7.0 world I've tried updating after the failure with $ emerge -uND --keep-going=y --fail-clean=y --with-bdeps=y --backtrack=30 world Not sure what would need to change for this to work automatically.
It was built for a previous perl version, so the newer perl didn't find it. This is "mostly" automated through subslot rebuilds but ordering doesn't always work out at the moment (well known issue). You can use "perl-cleaner" to find these occasional issues after a major perl upgrade. Either way, this isn't an issue with libqalculate itself. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 596664 ***
